Granville Street people watching

Granville Street around Smithe is a great place to people watch.

You have a blend of hipster & alternative boutiques next to the nightclubs, pubs, theatres, and greasy dollar pizza shops. The McDonald's and Burger King often have street kids hanging out front and down the road are the budget hotels and the backpacker hostels. Then there are the businesses from another era: greasy spoon diners, pawn shops, and porn shops.

Granville's really trying hard to gentrify, but it's not there yet. Needless to say, it makes for great people watching.

p.s. Check out the people on the left in the last photo... priceless!

My son emigrated to Vancouver last dec and he has just flown to UK to get married, now he and his wife of 3 weeks are now together and starting a new life there. He is at the Vancouver Aquarium and loving it. Your blog is great as it makes me feel close to them :)

Hi Glynis,

Thanks for your comments - I'm glad to hear my blog does that for you. :)

The Vancouver Aquarium is a fantastic place. Does your son work there? I have a friend that works there and she absolutely loves it. I'm actually quite envious, if that's the case. :)

Hi Robyn
Yes he is the senior Aquarium Biologist, his speciality is frogs. Maybe they have met. I hope to visit it one day, saving like crazy.

Okay, I definitely envy your son's position! He may have met my friend Meighan - she's resposible for the Vancouver Aquarium's website.

Good luck on the savings. It would be great if you can visit. And until then, you can always check back on my blog. I'll try to pay a visit to the Vancouver Aquarium one day soon. I promise to take photos. :)
