So I'm cooking dinner and I hear music. I look out my rain-soaked kitchen window and I see this:
It's the David Lam Park test band and they're in full rendition of Oasis' Rock & Roll Star. It's funny, surreal, but they sound good! The drummers were hammering away earlier, then the guitar. Now it's the singers. And light show. And water display. Heck, they're floating a mini barge behind the stage. Who knows what that'll be. Fireworks?
Are you expecting the noise to get annoying after a while?
ReplyDeletePeople in my complex are already complaining about all the music and noise coming from the Irish House.

Oh man, lame!
ReplyDeleteBut I'll be honest. I'm sure living next to the Irish House would get old really quickly, yet, it's the Olympics. Suck it up.
Maybe if I had a 20 page essay to write or a major exam to study for I'd be annoyed by the music, but these are the Olympics! It's exciting that I have my own private concert across the street! :D The noise stops at 11pm, so I'm not too concerned to be honest. I'll probably be out that late every night anyway. That's my plan, anyhow. :)
Okay, so now I'm curious. What's it like living next to the Irish House? :)
ReplyDeleteWell I wouldn't mind if the noise ended at a reasonable hour, but I was still wide awake at 2:30am from the music - and we're 30 floors up.
ReplyDeleteThe music is your quintessential Irish, violin-based "let's lock arms and dance a jig" music.
I thought they'd wrapped up at 10:15pm because it was dead silent, but it turned out the band was just taking a break and they started up again 20 minutes later.
I'm all for the "Olympic spirit", but we're sandwiched between the Irish House/Doolins and screaming drunk UBC kids at Ceili's.
I Believe, indeed.
Crappy. In that case, I take back "suck it up". It's unfortunate that their venue's a tent. It would make more sense for them to take over Doolin's, or to have the tents set up where the Quebec pavilion is - out in a tent on that stretch of the seawall where nobody lives.
